For as long as The Order has been taking large chunks of land and dividing it up into smaller chunks, it has also been giving those smaller chunks cute pet names to reflect their personalities.
No doubt you are familiar with your own state’s moniker, but now when you hear references to “The Condiment State” you can immediately understand which arbitrary rectangle is being referenced with a mere glance.
A special thanks to mathematician and nickname enthusiast, Tumbler K. Minnowtell, who aided in researching several of the harder-to-obtain state nicknames. States such as Delaware, New Mexico, or Maryland have gone by many different names over the years, so the process of identifying their first, or most enduring, was no small task. Thank you, K.
So go forth, call Arizona “The Spicy Zone” with confidence, introduce yourself to Colorado’s rectangle partner, and discover your own hidden talent state.
